Director Pavithran is back after a long hiatus. He had made films like Sooryan and Indu which were superhits in the 1990s, is now ready with his next directorial project. The film is titled Mattudhavani and as the title suggests, is based in Madurai, namely on a specific location in that city.

The director has opted to work with a completely new cast and recently held an interaction with the media to showcase the trailer and some songs. Apart from a racy kuthu number with complete folk tunes and rural singers, another song featuring actors Ponnambalam and Suri dancing near a village pond with a seductive siren, were also screened. Clearly there seems to be enough masala to keep the audiences in their seats!

The film stars new hero Ramkiran and a new villain named Satish. Talking about the film Pavithran says, My story is about how hard work can really change the life of a person. But on the other hand, if a hardworking and sincere youth is confounded by obstacles in life, his whole life path can go awry and lead him astray. Ramkiran has trained extensively in martial arts during his stints abroad, which came in handy for his role in the film.

The trailer which was screened showed youth violence and the film seems to be a gripping action packed movie full of chases, fights and thrills along with some elements of suspense.

The music is by Deva while Mu Ka Muthu has sung some songs after a lull. Babi and Srinivasan are doing the dances while Sri Ganesh cranks the camera. Manimuthu has done the lyrics. Apart from Ponambulam and Suri (the guy who eats parotha by dozens in Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu), Meenakshi and Menaka are also in the cast.

The film is slated for a December release.
